One of our greatest joys is being able to help our veterans with their home repair needs. Over the past two weeks, we had the pleasure of partnering with Purple Heart Homes in making a significant difference in the life of Mr. Martin, a 13-year veteran of the National Guard.
His home was completely unsafe due to the rotten floors falling through in the living room and kitchen, forcing him to live in his bedroom. In addition, his well had been out of service for some time.
The first thing we did was have the well pump repaired. The other repairs were numerous, but here are some of the highlights:
- Completely demolish the living room and kitchen floors then building them back with new floor joists, subfloors and LVT flooring.
- Upgrade the plumbing for the entire home.
- Install new base cabinets, countertops, and sink in the kitchen.
- Install a new water heater and stove.
- Install a new toilet and vanity.
- Complete electrical repairs.
Mr. Martin can now walk through his home without fear of falling through the floor. He now has hope where there was none before. Thank you, Purple Heart Homes, for the funding and our great volunteers for the labor to get this transformation completed.
