Mrs. Miller, a 61 year old Navy Veteran and widow is living in her small, frame home in Anderson SC. She was referred to us by the VA due to her home being in complete disrepair resulting in terrible living conditions. Ms. Miller experienced a traumatic brain injury and can’t work or perform the necessary repairs. The pipes behind the shower burst last winter causing the floor to cave in. Now she can’t go in the bathroom so she has to use a porta potty and has to turn the water on and off to be able to use the kitchen. She must rely on space heaters during this extremely cold weather.
We will be performing a complete bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, installing a new roof, repairing her plumbing, repairing her front and back doors, and some of her windows.
The budget for the repairs is $10,900.00. If you would like to help Mrs. Miller with her serious safety needs, please click on the DONATE button. Volunteers and prayers are always needed and appreciated as well.
PROJECT DETAILS
We are happy to report that the good Lord has done it again!
Thank you to the many who donated, along with a couple of special large donors, that allowed us to reach and exceed our goal of $10,900 for the total rehab of Ms. Miller’s home.
To review, over the past two weeks we were able to perform a complete bathroom and kitchen remodel, replaced the roof, replaced the plumbing, repaired the front and back doors, rebuilt the back porch, added handrails, and replaced all her windows. The floors in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, back porch and one bedroom were in such bad shape we had to replace the floor and rim joists, subfloor and floor covering.
As always, the pictures speak louder than words. Here is the evidence.
If you would like to help us help other Veterans with serious safety needs and poor living conditions like Ms. Miller, click on the DONATE button to donate or the Volunteer Button to find a date to volunteer. Prayers are always welcomed as well.
