Happy New Year? Not so much for Ms. Kirby. Tammie Kirby is a 67 year old grandmother who is on a fixed income living in Taylors, SC. She has legal custody of her 4 grandchildren, ages 17, 16, 14, and 3 years old. The 14 year old has Cerebral Palsy. In addition to caring and providing for her grandchildren, she is recovering from hip replacement surgery. It is no wonder she is overwhelmed.
Ms. Kirby’s situation is made worse due to her mobile home being in need of multiple repairs in order to keep her family safe and healthy. We plan to repair both her front and back doors, which currently leak every time it rains. The roof over the front porch is in danger of collapsing and needs to be replaced. There is a 16 foot section of wall on the front of the home that is pulling away from the roof which will need to be repaired to make it stable again. The toilet in the master bathroom is leaning due to the floor sagging. It will need to be repaired and supported. There are also multiple electrical issues and other small repairs that need to be addressed as well.
