ms.-fratus

Please meet Ms. Fratus, a retired nurse.  She lives alone in Greenville, SC and is wheelchair bound since losing her leg due to an infection from knee replacement surgery.  She is also diabetic and has a tear in her left hip joint.  In spite of her health issues, she enjoys singing in the choir and working with the kids at her church.

She has trouble navigating through her home due to torn carpeted floors.  Her hip problem has made it  more difficult for her to transfer into the tub.  As a result, we will replace her shower/tub with a roll-in shower and widen a door to 36″ for access.  The carpet will be removed and we will install LVT flooring in the master bedroom, hall, and living room.

Our budget is $3,000.00.  If you would like to help fund this worthy project, please click the DONATE button.  Thank you in advance for your consideration.

PROJECT DETAILS

December 1, 2020

Ms. Fratus now has a new shower with grab bars, new flooring in the master bedroom, bath, hallway and living room.  She also has a new widened door to the second bath to allow her access for the first time in the 16 years that she has owned the home.

Many thanks to volunteers from Buncombe Street UMC for removing the carpet and wood floors.  Also, a huge thank you to Chris Keel and his team at Upstate Commercial Flooring for donating the materials and labor for the floors.

She says, “I love, love, love my new shower!  I am so thankful for the access to the patio that I have not had since moving here 16 years ago.  I have such greater peace of mind knowing that I don’t just have one way in and out anymore.  Emmanuel’s Hammer and their volunteers are an answer to my prayers.”
